Diggers

The Caterpillar Tractor Company, renowned for its tracked vehicles, was formed in the US in 1925 and switched from steam to diesel power in the 1930s.

The first real JCB was built by Joseph Cyril Bamford who began his famous UK company from his garage in 1945.

Amongst the first of many digger toys was the Matchbox Aveling Barford Tractor Shovel made in the 1950s.

Early examples of digger toys are now highly collectable.

Today some of the finest toy diggers and scale models are made by Britains Toys and Bruder Toys including the classic JCB backhoe loader.
